D1 and D2

Regular diesel fuel comes in two grades: Diesel 1-D) and Diesel or 2-D). The higher the cetane number, the more volatile the fuel. Most diesel vehicles use fuel with a rating of 40 to 55. You won’t have to worry about which type to use because all diesel automakers specify Diesel #2 for normal driving conditions. Truckers use Diesel #2 to carry heavy loads for long distances at maintained speeds because it’s less volatile than Diesel #1 and provides greater fuel economy.
Diesel fuel also is measured by its viscidity. Like any oil, diesel fuel gets thicker and cloudier at lower temperatures. Under extreme conditions, it can become a gel and refuse to flow at all. Diesel #1 flows more easily than Diesel #2, so it’s more efficient at lower temperatures.

D6

D6 is a class of residual fuel, largely used in power plants and larger ships. The fuel is required to be preheated before it can be used. It is not reasonable to use it in smaller engines or vessels/vehicles where it is not possible to pre-heat it. D6 is its name in the USA. In other parts of the world, it has other names.
Number 6 fuel oil is a high-viscosity residual oil requiring preheating to 220 – 260 °F (104 – 127 °C).
Residual means the material remaining after the more valuable cuts of crude oil have boiled off. The residue may contain various undesirable impurities including 2 percent water and one-half percent mineral soil. D6 fuel is also known as residual fuel oil (RFO), by the Navy specification of Bunker C, or by the Pacific Specification of PS-400.

Jet Fuel

Jet fuel is the sunshade name used for liquid fuel types of several specs that are commonly used in aviation. They are primarily intended for the gas turbine engines of airliners, jets, or helicopters, but specially adapted diesel engines for small aircraft have also used this type of fuel since the early 2000s.

Aviation fuels are fuels used for aircraft propulsion. A basic distinction is made between four diverse aviation fuels:

· Jet fuel (Jet A-1, kerosene)
· Kerosene-gasoline mixture (Jet B)
· Aviation gasoline (avgas)
· Biokerosene
